The Parish of Christ Church includes Cinderhill, parts of Aspley, Basford and Bulwell and in total has a population of around 13,000. The Church itself is on the A610 at the centre of the parish. It is a very mixed community and the parish is described as an Urban Priority Area.
Educationally there are two primary schools, Ellis Guildford Comprehensive and Basford Hall College. There is good Sure Start provision and a Nursery. The Parish also has a doctor’s surgery, a dentist, a veterinary practice and Library.
There are two Community Centres one on Bell’s Lane and the other at the centre of the Aspley Estate which also serves as a Training Centre. There is also a Sports Centre on this site as well as a Gym on Nuthall Road.
The area is well served by local shops including a pharmacy, Tesco Express, Sainsbury’s Local and numerous take-away outlets. There are various public houses as well as the Gateway Hotel & Conference Centre. The Sybil Levin Centre is run by Age Concern as a day centre.
There is also a range of light industry.
